KVK Dimapur Successfully Concludes 60-Hour Skill Development Training for Unity College Students

        Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur has successfully concluded a comprehensive 60-hour Skill Development Training Programme on “Livestock Production and Management” for students from Unity College, Dimapur commencing from 22nd July 2024. The training was directed by Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie, CTO Animal Science to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of students’ in various aspects of livestock management.
        Dr. Phool Kumari, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Dimapur, welcomed the participants and highlighted the pivotal role of KVK in promoting agricultural education and innovation. The training commenced with an engaging ice-breaking session, setting a collaborative tone.
        The training included both lectures and practical demonstrations with a range of insightful sessions on Basic Agronomic Practices led by Dr. Bendangla Imsong, CTO Plant Breeding. Dr. Moanaro, Programme Assistant, presented on Integrated Pest and Disease Management of Maize, while Dr. Chingakham Sima Chanu focused on Value-Added Products of Maize. Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie, CTO Animal Science, delivered detailed sessions on Rabbitry, Poultry, and Dairy Production and Management. Entrepreneurial Skills for Excellence were explored by Ms. Marneni Divya Sree, SMS Agricultural Extension. Mr. Imiliakum Pongen, Farm Manager, elaborated on the Importance of Integrated Farming Systems for Sustainable Agriculture. Additionally, a special session on Piggery Production and Management, with emphasis on artificial insemination techniques, was conducted by Dr. Ngullie, Dr. Atokali Sumi, and Dr. Veikho Apanaicelina. A total of twelve students’ including eight male and four female were trained.
